National Digital Economic and Social Council Formed

The Royal Government of Cambodia has formed the National Digital Economic and Social Council with an aim to build a digital economic foundation in Cambodia.
His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, on Sept. 7 signed a Royal Decree on the council’s formation.
The National Digital Economic and Social Council has key roles and responsibilities related to digital economic and social development, such as setting vision and principles, orienting, advising, mobilising financial, technical and human resources, and promoting law enforcement, read the Royal Decree.
Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen is appointed chairman of the council, with a deputy prime minister as permanent deputy chairman and five ministers from Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Economy and Finance, Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, and Ministry of Posts and Telecommunication, are deputy chairmen.
Ministers from 20 other ministries, a representative of the National Supreme Economic Council and the governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, are members.
The council is formed after the “Digital Economy and Social Policy Framework of Cambodia 2021-2035” was officially launched in June.
Cambodia has set out a vision titled “Building a vibrant digital economy and society by laying the foundations for promoting digital adoption and evolution in all sectors of society, the state, the people and the business community.”
