National Museum To Host “New Khmer Architecture and Japan” Exhibition in Early March

The National Museum of Cambodia in Phnom Penh will host an exhibition on “New Khmer Architecture and Japan” from Mar. 4 to 16, 2017, said a press release of Japan Foundation Asia Centre made public this afternoon.

The event is organised by the Environmental Design Global Hub, Japan’s Kyushu University, in cooperation with the Cambodian Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts and Japan Foundation Asia Centre, it pointed out.

The exhibition is aimed to showcase Cambodian-Japanese architectural collaboration based on the drawings and documents discovered in Japan, it underlined.

According to the same source, New Khmer Architecture, the Cambodian architectural modern movement in the 1950-60s, is gathering international attention in the past few years. Recent researches revealed that many Japane

se experts took part in this movement; from design phase to construction, and from research projects to urban planning.
