NBC: Local Currency To Remain Stable

Riel, the currency of Cambodia, will continue to be stable, according the projection made by the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC)'s senior leaders at the NBC's annual meeting held in Kampong Cham province yesterday, based on the financial achievements in the previous year.

NBC Governor H.E. Chea Chanto said Cambodia's monetary policy has been carried out with cautiousness, flexibility, and in consistency with the fiscal policy, and has contributed to maintaining the macroeconomic stability.

Last year, the official exchange rate was retained at around 4,050 Riel per U.S. dollar, while the inflation rate was at a manageable level of 2.9 percent on average, said H.E. Ms. Chea Serey, Director General of NBC.

Today, the NBC's official daily exchange rate is 4,032 Riel per U.S. dollar.
