NBTC Receives 75,000 Blood Bags in 2017

AKP Phnom Penh, The National Blood Transfusion Centre (NBTC) Director Dr. Hok Kim Cheng said the center obtained 75,000 blood bags this year, up 20 percent compared to last year.

Cambodia needs 20 percent more blood donation next year, he added.

Dr. Hok Kim Cheng expressed his concerns over blood shortage in the future, thus encouraged the public to join the blood donation for emergency rescue.

According to the NBTC director, the rate of blood donation among the Cambodian people is only 0.5 percent. The need for blood would reach 1 percent of the total Cambodian population by 2020 or 150,000 bags.
