Nearly 4,000 Trademarks Registered

Ministry of Commerce registered nearly 4,000 trademarks in 2016, according to its report shared recently during a 2016 work review and 2017 planning meeting organised here in Phnom Penh.

Of the total number, 997 are local trademarks and 2,783 are international ones.

The ministry also received proposals for registration of 1,144 trademarks from the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) and defended 329 of them.

It issued licenses for original products, including clothes, shoes, rice, agricultural products, vehicles and others.

Capacitated by the mentioned scope of registration, Cambodia exported products worth US$2,345 million to the United States of America, US$2,825 million to the European Union, US$74 million to Non-European countries, US$24 million to countries in African continent, and US$1,610 million to countries in Asian and Oceanian continents.
