New French Ambassador Promises a Memorial Construction, While Appreciating Cambodia’s Progresses

Newly appointed Ambassador of France to Cambodia has promised to build an anti-Khmer Rouge memorial and spoken highly of Cambodia's progresses.

The ambassador, H.E. Ms. Eva Nguyen Binh, gave the words and shared the appreciation when received by Senior Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Prak Sokhonn at the ministry office here in Phnom Penh yesterday.

To stand at a public park opposite the French Embassy, the memorial will be dedicated to the victims of Democratic Kampuchea (Pol Pot regime) from 1975-1979. The budget and timing for its construction was not detailed yet.

On the occasion, H.E. Ms. Eva Nguyen Binh also spoke highly of Cambodia's progresses, in particular the peaceful local election lately and continuous commitment of the country to contribute to the United Nations peacekeeping missions.

The ambassador was hopeful that she will be able to attract more French investments to Cambodia.

On behalf of the Royal Government of Cambodia, H.E. Prak Sokhonn appreciated the supports from France and welcomed mentioned offers. The minister also looks forward to more intimate cooperation in a near future.
