New Vietnamese President Reaffirms Irreversible Stance with Cambodia

Visiting H.E. Tran Dai Quang, newly elected President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, has reaffirmed his country’s irreversible stance to tighten the relations with Cambodia.

The Vietnamese president made the commitment while meeting with Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, at the Peace Palace, Phnom Penh yesterday afternoon, H.E. Eang Sophalleth, Assistant to the Cambodian premier, told reporters after the meeting.

H.E. Tran Dai Quang congratulated Cambodia on her fast progress under the leadership of Samdech Techo Hun Sen and lauded the existing relations and cooperation between both neighboring countries.

On the occasion, H.E. Tran Dai Quang invited Samdech Techo Hun Sen to pay a visit to Viet Nam.

In response, the Cambodian premier accepted the invitation and congratulated the success of the 12th National Congress of the Communist Party of Viet Nam.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen requested H.E. Tran Dai Quang to further boost the bilateral cooperation, especially on economic connectivity, emergency rescue along the common border, water use at the border, and health sector.

H.E. Tran Dai Quang expressed his support to Samdech Techo Hun Sen’s idea.

After the meeting, both leaders presided over the handover-receiving ceremony of a US$1 million building of the School of Vocational Training in Prey Veng province donated by the Vietnamese president to the Royal Government of Cambodia.

Earlier on the same day, H.E. Tran Dai Quang was received in a royal audience by His Majesty Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, and met with Senate President Samdech Vibol Sena Pheakdei Say Chhum and National Assembly Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin.

This morning, H.E. Tran Dai Quang paid courtesy calls on His Holiness Samdech Preah Akka Maha Sangharajadhipati Tep Vong, Great Supreme Patriarch of Mahanikaya, and His Holiness Samdech Preah Abhisiri Sugandha Maha Sangharajadhipati Bour Kry, Great Supreme Patriarch of Dhammayuttikanikaya of Cambodia, before returning to his home country in the afternoon.
