New Zealand to Help Develop Cambodia’s Tourism Human Resources

New Zealand will further strengthen cooperation with Cambodia in tourism, especially in assisting the National Institute of Tourism to develop the Kingdom’s human resources for the industry, according to local media report.

The commitment was made recently by Vice Rector of New Zealand’s University of Waikato Mrs. Prof. Allison Kirkman when receiving Cambodian delegation led by Minister of Tourism H.E. Thong Khon in New Zealand.

H.E. Thong Khon thanked Mrs. Prof. Allison Kirkman for her commitment, adding that the assistance is crucial and well in line with current market demand in Cambodia as well as the Kingdom’s tourism human resource development strategy.

Mrs. Prof. Allison Kirkman also promised to provide the institute with technical assistance for research and training on tourism management.

She also highlighted her support in terms of scholarship provision to Cambodian tourism students in order to develop eco-tourism and tourism community development, and for the establishment of mutual internship programme.

During the visit, the Cambodian delegates also visited New Zealand Management Academy.
