Newly Purchased Fire Engines Arrived

Newly purchased ISUZU-branded fire engines by Royal Government of Cambodia arrived at their temporary parking lot in Phnom Penh late last week and most of them will be sent out to 24 provinces shortly, according to local media reports.

While 14 of the 113 new fire engines will be kept for intervention in Phnom Penh capital, the rest will be stationed in far flung cities and towns of all provinces across Cambodia.

Additional number of fire engines, as quoted Chief of Fire Department Mr. Neth Vantha in the same source, will ensure timely and effective response to fire incidents and to minimize the losses.

Not factoring in the new engines, Cambodia has a total of 120 vehicles as such situated in only central capital and provincial areas, causing delayed intervention on incidents happening in isolated towns.

The number of engines circulated to their destinations will be based on actual demand as well as size of respective province – at least two and at most six.
