NIDIR Hosts Training Course of “Culinary Diplomacy”

The National Institute of Diplomacy and International Relations (NIDIR) in collaboration with the Economic Diplomacy Coordinating Group (EDCG) organised a training course on “Culinary Diplomacy” for Spouses of the newly appointed ambassadors and chefs at the Royal Embassy of the Kingdom of Cambodia abroad.

The course was opened on Dec. 12 under the presidency of H.E. Dr. NHIM Khemara, Secretary of State and the Head of the EDCG, high representative of Deputy Prime Minister PRAK Sokhonn, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

The training course is in line with the Economic Diplomacy Strategy (EDS) 2021-2023 to promote Cambodia’s tourism and culture including culinary arts on the international stage.

H.E. PRAK Sokhonn pointed out that food is a powerful tool for diplomacy in the modern days in order to enhance relations between countries through cultural exchanges such as food exhibitions and social gathering between the peoples, especially foreign diplomats.

H.E. Dr. NHIM Khemara expressed his appreciation for the efforts of NIDIR and EDCG in organising this course. He firmly hoped that the diplomats and chefs at the missions abroad will strive to put into practices the skills acquired to further promote effective implementation of EDS 2021-2023.
