Nike Inc. Praises Development in Garment and Footwear Sector in Cambodia

Nike Inc. has spoken highly of progress in garment and footwear sector in Cambodia, according to a news release of the Cambodian Ministry of Commerce.

Visiting Mr. Chris Helzer, Nike Vice President for International Trade and Government Affairs, made the appreciation while paying a courtesy call on Minister of Commerce H.E. Pan Sorasak, at the ministry office yesterday afternoon.

Mr. Chris Helzer said Nike was proud to give jobs to 45,000 Cambodian people through seven partner garment and footwear factories, adding that Nike is eying opportunity to expand its markets in the Kingdom.

For his part, H.E. Pan Sorasak thanked Nike for its investment in Cambodia and informed his guest about the ministry’s efforts in taking part in reform programme of the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC), market diversification negotiations, free trade bloc creation, and signing of agreements with partner countries of ASEAN.

The RGC’s vision to enhance the country’s competitiveness through physical infrastructure construction, bureaucracy reduction, transport, energy and digital connectivity promotion, electricity fee reduction, and human resource training in response to major investment projects were also mentioned by H.E. Minister.
