NPMEC Director General Meets a French Military Professor

H.E. Gen. Sem Sovanny, Director General of the National Centre for Peacekeeping Forces, Mine and Explosive Remnants of War Clearance (NPMEC), received here on Monday Lt. Col. Valerie Richard, Chief Executive of Parachute Engineering Regiment Unit 17 from Paris, France.

On the occasion, Lt. Col. Valerie Richard recalled the French government’s assistance to NPMEC in training Cambodian blue helmet troops on peacekeeping, French language and IT skills.

France will continue to provide skill training to Cambodian blue helmet troops who are going to fulfill their UN peacekeeping missions, especially in Sudan, he underlined.

For his parts, H.E. Gen. Sem Sovanny thanked the French side for providing training to Cambodian blue beret troops for over 10 years.

Since 2006, Cambodia has dispatched a total of more than 4,000 troops � nearly 200 of them are women � for the UN peacekeeping operations in Sudan, South Sudan, Central African Republic, Chad, Syria, Lebanon, Mali and Cyprus.
