Cambodia registered new 163 factories last year, bringing the total operating factories to 1,879 factories last year, data from the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation shows.
The registered factories generate over 980,000 jobs for local people.
However, in light of COVID-19 pandemic, 148 factories have been shut down temporarily and completely.
The ministry emphasised that the industrial products produced last year were valued at US$7,433 million, a year-on-year increase of 15 percent.

Of which, US$5,456 million worth manufacturing products were exported, while the rest was for local market.
