Official Launch Ceremony of the second Mobile Vehicle Inspection Unit

On Afternoon Thursday, December 01, 2016, H.E Sun Chanthol, Minister of Public Works and Transport, presided over the official launch ceremony at the Mondial Center in Phnom Penh for the Ministry’s second Mobile Vehicle Inspection Unit.

The official launch of the “Korean HK Car Inspection Co., Ltd., Mobile Vehicle Inspection Machine” is the second unit launched by the Ministry, after the first mobile vehicle inspection machine that was activated in October from a Cambodian company, CMVIC.

The purpose of these mobile inspection units, is in response to the need to facilitate faster and more convenient citizen services on a national basis, bringing vehicle inspections closer to the public with the two units circulating across all 25 cities and provinces.

In his speech, Minister Sun informed the public that the government is attentive to providing better and more convenient public services. He highlighted the automation systems scheduled to be implemented by MPWT next year for vehicle registration, a SMS Notification to alert each vehicle owner to bring their vehicle to get inspection services prior to expiration date, and Smart Phone apps to assist citizens to qualify for driver’s license tests prior to the actual exam. He also briefed the public about studies being conducted by the Phnom Penh Autonomous Port on providing public transport services on the waterways within Phnom Penh.
