Over 200 Companies Joint Cambodia-Vietnam Investment Forum

Some 250 companies have joined Cambodia-Vietnam Trade and Investment Forum 2017 taking place here in Phnom Penh.

From Cambodian side, Mr. Ho Sivyong, Director of the Export-Import Department, Ministry of Commerce view the Nov. 20 event as government's endeavour to boost the two country's trade to US$ 5 billion in a near future.

Vietnam, he added, is Cambodia's good partner not only in trade and investment, but also diplomacy, tourism and beyond.

A representative of Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade underlined that the forum followed the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two neighbours.

The forum, he continued, paved ways for information exchange that would further promote imports and exports between the two countries.

Figures from Vietnamese Embassy indicate that Cambodia-Vietnam bilateral trade will hit US$3.1 billion by the close of this year.

Operating more than 190 investment projects with registered capital of US$2.94 billion, Vietnam stands among the five biggest investors in Cambodia.

Among the participating companies in the trade and investment forum, 150 are Cambodian.
