Pharmacovigilance Capacity Built Among Public Health Officials

Ministry of Health has organised a training workshop on pharmacovigilance for public health officials in order to further strengthen drug quality management for healthy Cambodian.

Taking place from Dec. 17-19 at Khemra Hotel in Kampot province, the capacity building session was attended by almost 50 senior health officials from ten capital and provinces of Cambodia.

In her opening remark of the workshop, Technical Health Director General at the Ministry of Health H.E. Ms. Or Vandin underlined the significance of the knowledge and skill related to pharmacovigilance and was positive about having focal points in charge of the area in all capital and provinces in a near future.

Rational use of medicine, especially antibiotics, well aligned with clinical practice guideline, and avoidance of medication error and overdose as well as understanding of drug interaction and contra-indication were among the focuses of the workshop financed by the World Health Organisation.
