Phnom Penh Expects a New International Standard Shopping Mall

Phnom Penh is expecting a new shopping mall of international standard in less than a month away, according to local media report.

The report cited Ms. Ann Sothida, the director of a commercial real estate services and investment firm known as CBRE Cambodia, as saying that the mall has been located in Exchange Square an emerging business building behind the Embassy of the United States of America, adjacent to the capital’s origin Wat Phnom.

Encompassing 8,000 square metres, added the source, the new four-storey shopping mall responds well to the increasing number of modern shoppers in Phnom Penh.

According to a study by Cambodia-based property consultancy firm Bonna Realty Group, the number of the capital’s mall goers is going up gradually from about 79 percent early last year to 82 percent in the first quarter of this year.

The finding credited the trend to increasing population in Phnom Penh, their better income, commodity conditions, and lowered rates of micro-finance institutions.

The new shopping mall will supply a wide range of world known branded products ranging from dresses to foods and drinks as well as gyms and recreation centres.

Phnom Penh has now 34 shopping malls, classified into three categories basing on their standards and services.
