The first ever International Conference on Cambodia Gastronomy and Food Tourism kicked off here this morning at Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel with the participation of some 600 people.
The opening ceremony was presided over by H.E. Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism, and visiting Mr. Xu Jing, Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific of the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO).
National and international speakers, delegations of the UNWTO and ASEAN countries, and representatives of concerned public and private sectors as well as tour operators, development partners, tourism professionals, attended the gathering organised by the Cambodian Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with UNWTO under the theme Valorising Tradition and Heritage for Sustainable Tourism Development.
The one-day conference aims to promote the potential of Cambodian food and products to become more attractive tourism products, especially promote them as part of the Kingdom's national culture and identity to the world.
