Phnom Penh capital city of Cambodia has been selected as a candidate for the City Cancer Challenge Project.
Yesterday, a delegation of Geneva-based City Cancer Challenge Foundation (C/Can) led by its Chief Executive Officer Dr. Susan Henshall was received by H.E. Dr. Or Vandine, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Health and Chairwoman of the National Ad-hoc Commission for COVID-19 Vaccination.
Dr. Susan Henshall told H.E. Dr. Or Vandine of her visit, the purpose of which is to learn about cancer care in Cambodia, particularly in Phnom Penh.
The delegation will visit related facilities, medical materials and equipment, diagnostic capacity, cancer treatment and care at some national hospitals in the capital, she added.
Dr. Susan Henshall confirmed that the project’s activities will be carried out in line with the National Health Strategic Plan, priority activities and specific needs of the cancer sector in Cambodia.
H.E. Dr. Or Vandine asked the C/Can to study the possibility to integrate Digital Health and PHC Booster project toward global health service coverage.
She encouraged the C/Can side to conduct more technical discussions with the Health Protection Department in order to reach a cooperation memorandum of understanding.
Launched by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) at the 2017 World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, C/Can supports cities around the world as they work to improve access to equitable, quality cancer care.
