PM Calls for Action Against Traffic Anarchy

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen urged here this morning the competent authorities, especially those in Phnom Penh, to strengthen traffic law enforcement against traffic anarchy.

While visiting factory workers and employees in Tuol Sangke area, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said the traffic order should be strengthened and actions must be taken against traffic anarchy.

The premier also criticised local authorities in Phnom Penh over traffic anarchy in front of his residence and appealed to all stakeholders to take part in combating this problem.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen said he has already educated his children about traffic order and law in order to contribute to reducing traffic accidents and congestion.

In 2018, we have to reduce the number of road accidents, increase occupational safety, and no drug, he stressed.

Last year, road accidents in Cambodia caused 7,319 casualties. According to the update shared lately by the General Commissariat of National Police, a total of 3,531 cases of traffic incident took place throughout 2017, killing 1,780 people and injuring 5,539 others � comparing to 1,717 deaths and 6,607 injuries in 2016.
