PM Calls for Urgent Measures Against Flash Floods

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has appealed to all concerned authorities, particularly the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology (MOWRAM), the National Committee for Disaster Management, and provincial authorities, to pay high attention and take urgent measures against happening flash floods.

In a Facebook post this afternoon, the Premier said some provinces such as Preah Sihanouk have been facing with flash floods.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also quoted the latest weather forecast by MOWRAM saying that from Aug. 10 to 16, 2019, rain will continue to fall on coastal provinces, mainly Preah Sihanouk and Koh Kong, as well as those bordering with Vietnam, causing flash floods.

For other provinces and the capital city, he added, they will receive from less to heavy rainfall during the same period.

The Prime Minister thus asked his compatriots to keep their vigilance and thanked the authorities at all levels for their attention to rescue the victims of flash floods.

The coastal province of Preah Sihanouk and the mountainous province of Rattanakiri have been being severely hit by flash floods.
