Phnom Penh: Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet highlighted the necessity for the Royal Government to enhance the effectiveness of its leadership mechanisms to transform challenges into opportunities during a plenary session of the National Assembly.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the session, held at the NA Palace under the leadership of NA President Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, saw the unanimous approval of H.E. Prak Sokhonn’s appointment as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. He replaces H.E. Sok Chenda Sophea, who will continue as a Deputy Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of reinforcing leadership mechanisms in foreign affairs and international cooperation. Emphasis was placed on adopting a flexible foreign policy based on independence and international law, safeguarding Cambodia’s core interests, and maintaining traditional friendly relations with regional and global partners. Royal Government aims to actively participate in global peace and stability efforts.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet congratulated H.E. Prak Sokhonn on his appointment, noting his extensive experience in foreign affairs and international cooperation. The combined expertise of H.E. Prak Sokhonn and H.E. Sok Chenda Sophea in trade and investment is expected to enhance the Royal Government’s capacity to navigate international challenges and promote national interests effectively.
H.E. Prak Sokhonn brings a wealth of diplomatic experience, having held key government positions and served as an ambassador before his tenure as deputy prime minister and minister of foreign affairs and international cooperation from 2016 to 2023.
