PM Hun Sen and Spouse Recognised as “Korukun” of Cambodia Scouts

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and his spouse, Samdech Kittiprittpundit Bun Rany Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian Red Cross, have been approved to be “Korukun”, which refers to great merits that are revered and unforgettable, of Cambodia Scouts.
The unanimous approval was announced by H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, Minister of Education, Youth and Sports and President of Cambodia Scouts, at the closing ceremony of the Fourth-Mandate Conference of Cambodia Scouts, held here at the Institute of Technology of Cambodia this afternoon.
Speaking on the occasion, Samdech Techo Hun Sen thanked for the approval for him and his spouse to be “Korukun” of Cambodia Scouts.
The Premier reaffirmed that the Royal Government is giving priority to the strengthening of activities of the younger generations through the Cambodia Scouts. He thus called for the promotion of the scouts’ activities in contribution to the country’s socioeconomic development.
Cambodia Scouts is an active non-formal education movement that has supported the education system in Cambodia and has successfully participated in volunteer activities as well as implementing various community projects by connecting children and youth into communities.
Cambodia Scouts were formed in 1943 and joined the World Scouts on July 1, 2008. Cambodia Scouts are an important resource that must be developed to their full potential, physically, intellectually, socially and mentally, in order for them to become socially responsible citizens and active members of the community.
