PM Hun Sen: Cambodia Should Have Death Penalty

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has expressed his intention to amend the constitution to allow death penalty.

While he and his spouse were visiting the victims of sexual assaults in AFESHIP's rehabilitation centre in Phnom Penh this morning, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said this death penalty should be applied for any father and grandfather who raped their own daughter or granddaughter.

Sexual assault is a very unfortunate and immoral act, said the Premier, underlining that there should be the death penalty for those who committed such abuse against women and children, especially their own grandfathers, fathers or relatives.

According to Samdech Techo Hun Sen, this is just an idea because to amend the constitution to allow the death penalty, a referendum must be conducted nationwide.
