PM Hun Sen: January 7 Victory Day Belongs to All Cambodians

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen this morning reaffirmed that the January 7 Victory Day belongs to all Cambodian people who want to survive.

Speaking at a get-together with 18,273 workers and employees from 12 factories and enterprises in Samrong, Bati, and Tram Kak districts of Takeo province, Samdech Techo Hun Sen underlined that the January 7 Victory Day is not owned by the Cambodian People's Party (CPP).

"I would like to say that January 7 doesn't belong to CPP, but to all the Cambodian people who want to live as humans. So, it's not for anyone to pay back to anyone else," he stressed.

"It is the property of the Cambodian people that we have to well preserve and remember. []. I've never considered January 7 as my own or that of CPP []," the Premier added.

This year, Cambodia organised a solemn ceremony to mark the 40th Anniversary of the January 7 Victory Day over the Khmer Rouge Genocidal Regime (1979-2019) with the participation of more than 60,000 Cambodians from across the country.

This national commemoration took place at the National Olympic Stadium in Phnom Penh under the presidency of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister and President of the ruling CPP, and Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly and CPP Honorary President.

In his speech on the occasion, Samdech Techo Hun Sen recalled the tragedy during the Khmer Rouge regime, process of peace seeking, socio-economic rehabilitation and national development until the current progress, political stability, and high economic growth under the shade of the King, unity, sovereignty, and prosperity.
