PM Hun Sen Supports Cambodia-Japan Joint Military Drill

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has announced to support the cooperation plan between Cambodia and Japan in the military sector, including the joint military exercise in Cambodia if any.

Addressing to the inauguration ceremony of seven bridges, held in Kratie provincial city this morning, the Cambodian Premier said he welcomes the Cambodia-Japan joint military drill focusing on disaster rescue and counter-terrorism.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen took the opportunity to thank Japan for the warm hospitality for H.E. Lt. Gen. Hun Manet, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) and Commander of the Royal Cambodian Army, currently on a four-day visit in Japan since Feb. 14.

During his stay in Tokyo, H.E. Lt. Gen. Hun Manet paid a courtesy call on Japanese Prime Minister H.E. Fumio Kishida, Foreign Minister H.E. Hayashi Yoshimasa, and Defence Minister H.E. Nobuo Kishi, and met with H.E. Gen. Yoshida Yoshihide, Chief of Stafff of the Japan Ground Self-Defence Force.

Cambodia and Japan mark this year the 69th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic ties and the 30th anniversary of Japanese Peacekeeping Operations (PKO) in Cambodia.
