Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister and Honorary President of National Committee for Promotion of One Village One Product (OVOP) Movement, has appealed to Cambodians to consume more local products and to bring potential products to markets, both domestic and international.
The call was made ahead of the 4th Cambodian-made product promotion day to be held on April 9 under the theme “Being united in buying and using Khmer products is being united in enhancing national prestige.”
In his message to his compatriots on the occasion, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said the day is celebrated with an aim to inspire and encourage the Cambodians to continue supporting and promoting the use of local products, which contributes to national development, especially in this COVID-19 context.
The April 9 Day plays a crucial role in reminding local producers to consider enhancing the added value of their products through strengthening the quality, product safety, packaging methods and decent prices in order to compete in domestic and foreign markets, he added.
The Premier recommended relevant ministries and institutions to cooperate with the private sector to organise online marketing and bring local products to different exhibitions, both domestic and international, and through Cambodian embassies abroad.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen also laid stress on the elaboration of an OVOP road map, listing of potential local products as OVOP items, and participation in local product consumption under the slogan “A Cambodian buy at least one Khmer product.”
