PM Hun Sen Urges MFIs to Take Tolerance Measures for Flood Victims

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen this morning called on all microfinance institutions (MFIs) to once again offer some forms of understanding for the victims of floods.
While presiding over a graduation ceremony of the National University of Management organised here at the Chroy Changvar International Convention and Exhibition Centre, Samdech Techo Hun Sen advised the National Bank of Cambodia to hold a meeting with all financial institutions, including MFIs, to work out on tolerance measures.
“I’d like to appeal to all MFIs to check the possibility of reducing interest rates, restructuring loans, or delaying the payments for the flood-affected victims this year,” the Premier said.
According to Samdech Techo Hun Sen, some 20,000 families in 20 provinces have been affected by this year’s floods. He thus called on all competent authorities to stay by the victims’ side and assist them, while the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fishery was instructed to prepare seeds for re-cultivation.
