Phnom Penh: Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, this morning re-emphasized the approach taken by the Royal Government in public sector reform. Speaking at the closing ceremony of the annual meeting of the Ministry of Civil Service, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet highlighted that while many countries around the world have pursued public sector reforms by downsizing to enhance efficiency, Cambodia has chosen a different path.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Prime Minister noted that nations such as the US, the UK, Pakistan, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Argentina have undertaken public sector reforms by shrinking their structures to strengthen efficiency. However, Cambodia has not followed this trend. Instead, the Premier stressed that the Kingdom has adopted its own approach, which is to “Strengthen Rather Than Expand.”
Cambodia currently has 30 ministries and secretariats with a total of 232,034 civil servants. This includes 96,969 women, indicating a significant representation of women in the civil service sector.
