Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has through a Facebook post reminded the youths of what they should and should not do on Valentine’s Day to avoid any acts violating the tradition and custom.
If we talk about today using the lunar calendar, may be no one is interested, but if we say it’s Feb. 14, it perhaps attracts many people’s interest, and some even have already set up their respective plans, said the Premier this morning.
Today I don’t want to talk about any political issues, but I want to address to the youths that you’ve already known what you should and shouldn’t do, especially on Valentine’s Day. I don’t want to interfere in the youth’s affairs. [] I’ve also got through the youthhood. I know the feeling when we meet our love. In my time, we were in war time, even though we were in love with each other, we respected each other, we respected our tradition, and we struggled together until we became a couple with social recognition, he added.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen continued that he has read an article of a social researcher noting that the youths became now more mature compared to their attitude in the previous Valentine’s Day celebrations, i.e. most youths did not behave in contrary to the Khmer tradition.
This study made me happy. I always want to see you all live in happiness, and happiness is born from building a family in accordance to the law, the Khmer custom and tradition, he underlined.
