PM Says No More Tolerance for Untaxed Vehicles on Road

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen this morning said there will be no more tolerance for untaxed vehicles on road from Dec. 31, 2021 onwards.
While presiding over the inauguration ceremony of the new office building of the General Department of Customs and Excise (GDCE) of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Samdech Techo Hun Sen called on all owners of untaxed vehicles to pay tax with 10 percent discount until Dec. 31, 2021.
After the date (Dec. 31, 2021), they have to pay full tax, the Premier underlined.
According to the statistics of GDCE quoted by Khmer Times, in Cambodia there are around 10,000 untaxed vehicles on road and until Oct. 26, 2021, only 542 vehicles owners have paid the vehicle taxes.
The GDCE confirmed that from Jan. 1 to June 30, 2022, duty free left-hand drive vehicles will be required to pay full tax without any tax breaks by the deadline, and from July 1, 2022, duty-free vehicles will be subjected to severe crackdowns, and right-hand drive vehicles will be disassembled or destroyed.
