PM Sues a Political Analyst

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has announced to sue a political analyst who had through a radio station accused the ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) of involving in the recent murder of political and social analyst Dr. Kem Ley.

This is unacceptable because it affects the honour and dignity of CPP, underlined the premier at the inauguration ceremony of the Cambodia-China Friendship Koh Thom Bridge in Prek Thmey commune, Koh Thom district, Kandal province this morning.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen did not mention the name of that political analyst, but he said that some analysts talk non-stop when they have microphone in their hands.

After Prime Minister Hun Sen’s speech, his lawyer, Mr. Ky Tech, filed a complaint to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court against Mr. Kim Sok, a political analyst, for his baseless accusation and slander on CPP’s reputation, demanding him for a 2 billion Riel (US$500,000) compensation, according to local media reports.

Dr. Kem Ley, 46, President of Social Development Organisation, a local NGO in Cambodia, was shoot dead in the morning of July 10, 2016 in a Caltex Star Mart in Sangkat Tonle Bassac, Khan Chamkar Mon, Phnom Penh.
