PM Supports Cambodia-Australia Cooperation Under New Colombo Plan

Cambodia’s Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen expressed his strong support to the Cambodia-Australia cooperation under the New Colombo Plan.

In the courtesy meeting with newly appointed Australian Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Ms. Angela Corcoran at the Peace Palace, Phnom Penh this morning, the Cambodian premier welcomed the plan, stressing that it will strengthen the relations between youths of the two countries, H.E. Kao Kim Hourn, Delegate Minister Attached to the Prime Minister told reporters after the meeting.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen and H.E. Ms. Angela Corcoran exchanged views on the bilateral cooperation, mainly in the fields of human resource training, military, agriculture and in the fight against cross-border crimes and human trafficking, on the relations in ASEAN-Australia dialogue framework and the settlement of refugees from Australia in Cambodia.

The New Colombo Plan is a signature initiative of the Australian Government which aims to lift knowledge of the Indo Pacific in Australia by supporting Australian undergraduates to study and undertake internships in the region.

The New Colombo Plan involves a scholarship programme for study of up to one year and internships or mentorships, and a flexible mobility grants programme for both short and longer-term study, internships, mentorships, practicums and research.
