Presentation of Vaccination Card at School Institutions Not Mandatory for U-18s

Children and youth of under 18 years of age are not required to show their COVID-19 vaccination card or certificate when entering and leaving school institutions, both public and private in Phnom Penh.

The exemption was made known in an additional directive of Phnom Penh municipal administration issued yesterday.

Through close monitoring, control and assessment, Phnom Penh municipal administration noted that the under-18s are not an active transmission group, but a vulnerable group to transmission, it explained.

As almost all residents have already been vaccinated against the pandemic, the municipal administration earlier this month obliged people to show their COVID-19 vaccination card or certificate when entering and leaving school institutions, markets, malls, restaurants, coffee shops, and other establishments allowed for reopening, while parents or guardians need to present the vaccination card or certificate of their children aged from 6 to under 18 years old each time they bring them to the above said establishments.

The establishments that fail to carry out the measure will face business licence revocation and even closure as well as legal actions.

Today, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunication officially launched the “StopCovid QR Vaccine” QR Code, which makes it easier for the location of people involved in any positive cases of COVID-19, quarantine control, and presentation of information on vaccination of each individual.

The Kingdom has currently been conducting four COVID-19 vaccination campaigns: for the 18 years old and up which has achieved 99.48 percent, the 12 to under 18 years old 90.27 percent, the 6 to under 12 years old 98.56 percent, and the 3rd dose or booster dose for already 1,431,548 people.

Cambodia has so far vaccinated about 84.96 percent of the total population of 16 million.
