Provincial Sankranta Events Officially Kick Off to Attract Tourists during Khmer New Year Holiday

Siem Reap and Thbong Khmum provinces on April 13 officially opened the province’s Sankranta celebration with the call for thorough safety measure compliance and joint effort to promote Khmer culture and tradition to attract tourists and drive economy.
Addressing the opening of Siem Reap’s Sankranta, Provincial Governor H.E. Tea Seiha continued to encourage the public to well comply the COVID-19 safety measures, while having fun and contributing to promoting Khmer tradition and culture.
At Thbong Khmum, Provincial Governor H.E. Cheam Chansophorn delivered similar message and called on the seizure of the opportunity to attract more tourists to the province, especially to promote local economy.
Siem Reap province this year organises Sankranta at two key sites, namely Chao Say Tevoda Temple and the provincial city.
As for Thbong Khmum, it organises the new year celebration at two locations, too: Loung Preah Sdech Korn or Wat Prey Nokor Knong and Thbong Khmum provincial administrative area.
The provinces’ Sankranta will feature various traditional Khmer New Year programmes, sport competitions, arts exhibitions, popular games, Khmer food serving, and beyond.
