RAHMAH INSURANCE: KPDN TO BUILD SYSTEMATIC FLOOD VICTIM DATABASE WITH INTERAGENCY COOPERATION

The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) will cooperate with various agencies to build a more systematic flood victim database to attract more insurance companies to provide Rahmah Insurance, scheduled to be launched in June.

Its minister, Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub said the database would help convince leading insurance companies in the country to offer assistance to flood victims here.

“The data will be collected from disaster centres…KPDN will cooperate with the police, the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) and the Civil Defence Force (CDF) to update the data.

“We don’t want an inaccurate target. Insurance companies will be more confident in introducing their packages. Currently there are three big insurance companies that have stated their commitment to help disaster victims,” he told reporters after handing financial aid to flood victims in Dungun district at Dewan Perbandaran Dungun here today.

He said the insurance companies will present suitable packages, including vehicle and home damages, next week and urged residents in flood prone areas to register and complete the flood victim database.

“Those interested in being a part of Rahmah Insurance need only pay an affordable low rate and obtain adequate protection,” he added.
