Remaining Undocumented Cambodian Migrant Workers in Thailand Being Legalised

Cambodian and Thai officials are supporting the legalisation of some 340,000 remaining undocumented Cambodian migrant workers in Thailand.

The update was shared during a recent meeting between the Minister of Labour and Vocational Training H.E. Ith Samheng and his Thai counterpart H.E. Adul Sangsingkeo here in Phnom Penh.

Both sides hoped to speed up the legalisation work so as to complete it by June 2018.

According to the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, Cambodia and Thailand have cooperating and increasing the number of support centre to issue travel permit and overseas Cambodian worker cards (OCWC) to all undocumented Cambodian migrant workers in Thailand toward the set time frame.

Latest figure available from the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training indicates that among 1.5 million Cambodian overseas workers, 1,050,000 are working in Thailand.
