The Government of the Republic of Korea through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) will build a new five-floor hospital building in the National Pediatric Hospital of Cambodia.
Professor Dr. Nhep Angkeabos, Director of the National Pediatric Hospital, said the new hospital building will be constructed on an area of more than 8,300 square metres with an estimated cost of some US$16 million.
The project will break ground in 2023 for a three-year construction period, he told AKP by phone on Wednesday.
The new building will provide outpatient service and new pediatric services such as ears, nose, throat, eyes, kidney, glandular, dialysis, leukemia, gastroenterology, autism and so on, he continued.
The new building can accommodate 169 beds and has a place for training and practice for pediatricians from provinces, he added.
It will be the hospital’s second building funded by the Government of the Republic of Korea, while the first one with three floors has been already put into use.
The Korean government has through KOICA helped build many hospital buildings in Cambodia, including health centres in Rattanakiri and Mondulkiri provinces, and the newly inaugurated US$8-million Cambodia-Korea Friendship ENT Building in Preah Ang Duong Hospital.
