Resource for More Effective Illicit Drug Control

Cambodia's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Samdech Kralahom Sar Kheng was positive of more effective illicit drug control cooperation with Thai counterpart, thanks to the recent appointment of Royal Embassy of Thailand's senior advisor in charge of the work.

Samdech Kralahom Sar Kheng expressed the optimism when introduced by H.E. Nuttavudh Photisaro, Ambassador of Thailand to Cambodia, yesterday to the advisor Mr. Jarae Pokpa at the ministry office here in Phnom Penh.

The Cambodian DPM told the Thai counterpart that the Royal Government of Cambodia has made illegal drug control a priority as the trafficking of the product does not only happen in the urban, but also in rural areas.

The Ministry of Interior, he added, is developing a strategic planning that will detail strict bi-monthly review of the work.

H.E. Nuttavudh Photisaro spoke highly of the Cambodian government's anti-drug effort and thanked the Ministry of Interior for its good collaboration so far to prevent and crackdown the harmful business.

The Royal Government of Thailand has so far deployed anti-drug senior advisors at its Embassies in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam.
