Restoration of Angkor Wat’s Embankment, North of Causeway to be Completed Late This Year

The Angkor Wat’s embankment restoration in the north of the causeway starting in March 2022 was scheduled to be completed by the end of 2022.

The timetable was shared in a news release of the APSARA National Authority issued on Aug. 1.

The 7th phase of Angkor Wat’s embankment restoration, focuses on strengthening the foundation and preparing the staircases.

According to Ms. Nong Boravy, an archaeologist from the Department of Conservation of Monuments and Preventive Archaeology who is leading the restoration, the work is now 40 percent completed.

Angkor Wat’s western embankment is a popular site for tourists to capture the most beautiful picture of the temple.

When the renovation is completed, it will enhance the embankment beauty and lasting.
