Returning Cambodia’s UN Peacekeeping Forces Officially Greeted

Cambodia National Committee for Sending Troops to United Nations Peacekeeping Mission lately organized official greeting event for the arrival of Cambodian forces deployed to Mali and South Sudan under the assignment.

Taking place at Phnom Penh International Airport, the event was presided over by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense H.E Tea Banh, and UN Resident Coordinator in Cambodia Ms. Claire van der Vaeren.

A total of 309 Cambodian forces were sent to Mali and South Sudan for one-year UN peacekeeping assignment.

They were deployed to assist the areas of airport construction, demining and peacekeeping.

Both H.E. Tea Banh and Ms. Claire van der Vaeren appreciated the courage and full compliance with regulations of all the forces.

General Sem Sovanny, Director General of the National Center for Peacekeeping Force, Mines and ERW Clearance (NPMEC), also installed appreciation medals to the forces.
