Road Tax Collection To Begin Tomorrow

This year’s collection of tax on vehicles (road tax) will start on July 1 and last until the end of November, according to a recent announcement of the Ministry of Economy and Finance’s General Department of Taxation.

Tax rates for vehicles in 2016 remain the same compared to 2015, said the announcement, stressing that all kinds of motorcycle are exempt from road tax.

Exemption of tax on vehicles is also for state-owned ambulances, fire trucks, vehicles of royal armed forces, royal military police, national police, foreign embassies or consulates, international organisations or technical cooperation agencies, it added.

Road tax payments can be made at provincial-Khan taxation departments, or at Canadia Plc and Acleda banks, it pointed out.

The announcement went on to say that from Jan. 1, 2017, tax officers will check and fine any vehicles that failed to pay the road tax.
