Royal Palace to Renovate a Historical Landmark with Laos

The Royal Palace will help renovate a stupa in Borey O’ Svay Sen Chey district of Stung Treng province, a historical landmark between Cambodia and Laos, a local official told AKP this afternoon.
Mr. Ouk Theavy, Spokesperson of Stung Treng provincial hall, said on July 27 that a delegation from the Royal Palace led by H.E. Kuy Sophal, High Privy Councilor and Senior Minister in Charge of the General Affairs to the Ministry of the Royal Palace, visited some particular areas in Borey O’ Svay Sen Chey, including school building, health centre, and a historical stupa built by His Majesty the late King-Father, Samdech Preah Norodom Sihanouk.
“During the visit, H.E. Kuy Sophal said the garden and the stupa in Borey O’ Svay Sen Chey will soon be renovate to attract tourists,” the spokesperson added.
The stupa in Borey O’ Svay Sen Chey was built between 1963 and 1967.
Borei O’ Svay Sen Chey is a newly established district located in Stung Treng province, with three communes – O’ Svay, Koh Sneng and Preah Romkel. It was divided from Thala Borivat district.
