Ruling CPP Declares Accepting Local Election Results

The ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) has announced to accept the official results of the local election and vowed to continue boosting the local development.

“The Cambodian People’s Party would like to solemnly declare accepting the official results of the 5th term commune/Sangkat council election announced by the National Election Committee on June 26, 2022,” said the CPP in its statement released this evening.

The result of this election came from the will and intuition of the people, who are the true voters having high hopes for the development of their villages, communes, and improvement of their lives, while rejecting lies, incitement, and deceptions to distort the truth of the extremist opposition, and some ill-willed circles who always hinder the development of Cambodia, it underlined.

The common sense of the people in this election reflects the justification of the Royal Government of Cambodia’s successful efforts to implement its political programme at both the national and sub-national levels, and the wide-ranging support for the Commune/Sangkat Development Policy for 2022-2027 of the CPP, it added.

“The Cambodian People’s Party would like to express its deepest gratitude to our compatriots in all communes across the country who voted overwhelmingly for the CPP, giving the party a glorious success. This victory shows that the people voted for peace and development, which is more valuable than anything else, and at the same time strengthened the basis for the CPP to win another glorious victory in the upcoming 7th National Assembly election in 2023,” it said.

The CPP commended the National Election Committee, the Capital/Provincial Committees and the Commune/Sangkat Election Committees for fulfilling their duties in an independent, neutral, impartial, transparent and fair manner in position of high responsibility for the supreme national and people’s interest making the election process at all stages proceeds in accordance with the Constitution, laws, regulations and procedures of the election.

Moreover, the ruling party expressed its thanks and appreciations to the Royal Government, local authorities and competent forces at all levels for their active support of the election process, especially the protection of security, general order for the campaign, and during the voting day making the election process run smoothly from start to finish.

The CPP also expressed its profound thanks to all the national observers from all political parties, associations, non-governmental organisations and other circles, as well as international observers who have been closely monitoring the voting process in action, while making objective assessments that the election held in a free, fair and just manner, and to all friendly countries and the international community for their continued support of the democratic process in Cambodia, for monitoring this election process, and for providing a positive assessment of the election.

“The Cambodian People’s Party is determined before the people that the Party will successfully implement its policies to maintain peace, stability, safety, social order and security, to improve the provision of public services, to increase social protection for the poor and vulnerable, and to develop communes in all fields to meet the supreme aspirations and interests of all people at local level,” the statement stressed.

The ruling party took the opportunity to call on all compatriots everywhere, no matter what party they have voted for or they have not been able to go to vote, to continue to unite under the Constitution and the shadow of the most revered HM the King of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and to uplift solidarity around the Royal Government with Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen as the Prime Minister so as to continue to maintain peace, to protect all social achievements, and to develop our beloved homeland towards the glorious future.
