Ruling Party Concludes 40th Central Committee Congress

The two-day Congress of the Central Committee of the ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) was wrapped up yesterday evening with important political agenda for the upcoming commune/Sangkat council election.

Organised at Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Centre, Phnom Penh from Dec. 17 to 18, the congress, the 40th of its kind, was held under the presidency of Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, CPP Honorary President; Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, CPP President; with 1,860 participants, of them 495/545 are Central Committee members and the rest are senior CPP's officials from different ministries and institutions and local authorities.

According to the announcement on the outcome of the congress, CPP is determined to strictly respect the election law, regulation, procedure and code of ethics and to contribute actively with the National Election Committee, the competent authorities, all political parties and other milieus to strengthen good political environment in an impartial and democratic manner for the free, just and fair commune/Sangkat council election to be held on June 4, 2017.

CPP also maintains its honest and strong stance to carry out the culture of dialogue for the nation's and people's interests based on the spirit of national reconciliation and respect of democratic principles and rule of law.

Besides, CPP's central committee members approved the amendment to some contents in the party's internal regulation and decided to restructure the party's Monitoring Committee from 7 to 11 members as well as voted for H.E. Nay Pena as the Chairman of the Monitoring Committee of the Central Committee, in replacement of H.E. Say Phouthang who passed away recently.
