Ruling Party Marks 66th Founding Anniversary

Some 50,000 supporters of the ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) gathered at Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Centre, Phnom Penh this morning to celebrate the party's 66th Founding Anniversary (June 28, 1951-June 28, 2017).

The celebration was presided over by CPP Honorary President Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin and CPP President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen.

At the celebration, Samdech Techo Hun Sen recalled his party's history, saying that it was originally the Khmer Revolutionary Party which was established to struggle for independence from colonialism for the nation. Later on, he added, when the country fell into disaster created by the Khmer Rouge regime's genocide, CPP was the only political force that stood up and struggled to lead out people to fight and topple the brutal regime on Jan. 7, 1979.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen continued that in over the past 38 years of new area, CPP exercised its leadership with numerous historical masterpieces for the nation, especially peace and development.

The CPP president expressed deep thanks to all the party's supporters as well as his compatriots who supported CPP in the June 4 Commune/Sangkat Council Election and believed that CPP will continue to win the National Election in July 2018.
