Russia Eyes More Cooperation with Cambodia

Visiting Russian Foreign Minister H.E. Sergey Lavrov said Russia is eying more cooperation with Cambodia in the fields of tourism, investment and other sectors.

The cooperation can be expanded through the Meeting of Cambodia-Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, H.E. Eang Sophalleth, Assistant to the Cambodian Premier, told reporters after the courtesy meeting between Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and H.E. Sergey Lavrov at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh this morning.

H.E. Sergey Lavrov congratulated the ruling Cambodian People’s Party on its victory in the Commune/Sangkat Council Election in June.

For his part, Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his support for the possibility of expanding the relations and cooperation between both nations.

The Prime Minister thanked Russia for vaccines and other assistance to Cambodia since the past until now.

Regarding the Russia-Ukraine war, Samdech Techo Hun Sen reconfirmed the stance of Cambodia as well as that of ASEAN to have a proper solution through negotiations.
