Samdech Heng Samrin: Technology Can Be Used to Boost Religious Sector

Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin has recommended all concerned parties to take advantage of technology to promote the religious sector.

The National Assembly President gave the recommendation while presiding over the opening ceremony of 27th Congress of Cambodian Buddhist Monks held at Chaktomuk Conference Hall, Phnom Penh this morning.

In this technological era, he added, it is necessary to know how to use it and take advantage of it to further boost the sector of religions.

Samdech Heng Samrin also reaffirmed religious harmony in the country even though Buddhism is the state religion.

The NA president hoped that the Congress will discuss, share, and exchange knowledge, experience, findings and visions for further development of Buddhism in Cambodia.

According to a report of the Ministry of Cults and Religious Affairs, the Kingdom has currently 61,999 Buddhist monks and 4,872 pagodas.
