Samdech Sar Kheng Suggests Five Points to Reduce Traffic Accidents

Dissemination of Traffic Law, law enforcement, road engineering, first aid, and road safety work promotion are the five points suggested by Samdech Kralahom Sar Kheng, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, to reduce traffic accidents.

Samdech Sar Kheng, also Chairman of National Road Safety Committee (NRSC), made the suggestion while presiding over the annual meeting to review NRSC's work achievements in 2018 and set forth new direction for 2019, at the Ministry of Interior in Phnom Penh late last week.

The NRSC chairman called for participation from fellow citizens to respect the Traffic Law, local media and telecoms companies to disseminate daily road safety-ralated educative messages, songs .

In addition, Samdech Sar Kheng urged for effective law enforcement for the provinces and municipality with remaining high rate of traffic accidents, especially Phnom Penh capital and provinces of Preah Sihanouk and Kandal.

According to NRSC's statistics, 78 percent of traffic fatalities in 2018 were motorcyclists, and 78 percent of them did not wear helmets.
