Samdech Say Chhum Praises UYFC’s Role

Senate President Samdech Vibol Sena Pheakdei Say Chhum has lauded the role of the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC) in enhancing the nation’s pride and prestige.

UYFC has played a key role in mobilising the youths to take part in social, economic and political activities, to participate in carrying out the Royal Government’s policies as well as to contribute to enhancing the nation’s pride and prestige on international arena, he underlined here yesterday while presiding over the opening ceremony of the UYFC’s 4th Congress.

UYFC is a wide forum for all youths to improve their health, education, mindset, to share their knowledge and experience and to join social activities through volunteering, sacrifice and donation, added Samdech Say Chhum.

The senate president also welcomed all UYFC’s achievements so far and encouraged UYFC to continue their active contribution to the country’s reconstruction and development and recommended all its members to continue building their capacities to become good leaders in the future.

According to H.E. Hun Many, President of UYFC, with its structure and activities at all ministries and institutions at both national and sub-national levels, UYFC will become a role model for the younger generations, i.e. recognising their duties as youths with dynamic and active force for Cambodia at present and in the future.

Some 1,300 members of UYFC from across the country participated in the two-day Congress held in conjunction with the celebration of the UYFC’s 40th founding anniversary.

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and his spouse Samdech Kittiprittbandit Bun Rany Hun Sen will preside over the closing ceremony of the Congress to be held this afternoon.

The Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia is a front of Cambodian youths that continued the mission of the United Youth Association of National Salvation of Kampuchea and Cambodian Youth Association founded on Dec. 2, 1978 with the main aim to gather all youths as a solidarity force to contribute to building Cambodia with independence, peace, freedom, democracy and social progress.
